What are scented wax melts and how do I use them?

Wax melts are an easy to use, flame-free alternative to candles, incense, oil diffusers, plug-ins, reeds and other home fragrance solutions. Wax melts are placed into a wax warmer and are then warmed until melted with a hot plate or a light bulb that is inside. Once the wax starts to melt, your room will be filled with the fragrance you chose. 

Why is soy wax better?

Soy wax is a vegetable wax that is made from the oil of soybeans. After they are harvested, the beans are cleaned, cracked, de-hulled and then rolled into flakes. The oil gets extracted from the flakes and hydrogenated. This process converts some of the fatty acids in the oil from unsaturated to saturated. 

Because soy wax is a vegetable wax made from the oil of soybeans, it is not only healthier but it also comes from a renewable source making it more environmentally friendly! Many brands typically use paraffin wax which is derived from petroleum which is not a renewable resource. Because crude oil is the origin of paraffin wax, it is considered highly unsustainable and has been the cause of environmental calamities in oil spills, damage of natural habitats and climate change. It has been claimed that paraffin wax may release toxic fumes when burned, contributing to its fall out of favor. In 2009, a study by South Carolina State University found that burning paraffin wax gives off harmful fumes (toluene benzene) which is linked to asthma and lung cancer. Soy candles in that same research were not found to emit toxic chemicals. 

Can I use your wax melts in any warmer?

Yes, our wax melts are compatible with all standard wax warmers, no matter what the brand is.

Are your wax melts safe to use around cats and dogs?

As long as you are using our wax melts for their intended purposes and your pet is not ingesting the wax, there are no issues with using our wax melts in the same room with your cats and dogs. We do not recommend using any home fragrance products, including our wax melts around birds. For any exotic pets, we recommend consulting with your vet first.

Are your wax melts biodegradable. 

Yes, because we use all soy wax, our products are proudly biodegradable.

What are the ingredients in your wax melts?

Our wax melts are made with all-natural soy wax, phthalate-free fragrance oils, and a small amount of dye for coloring.

How strong are your scents?

Each person has a different scent sensitivity. We use the highest amount of fragrance load possible for our wax because we want our melts to last longer and travel further in your home. If you are concerned that the scent you like is too strong, we recommend starting with a half of a cube and then adjust to your liking/comfort. 

How long does the scent last?

Each cube will last 10 or more hours of scent time with an estimated 60+ hours of scent time with our 2 ounce clamshell packs. This gives you more value and scent time over other brands. 

What is the shelf life of your wax melts?

A wax melt has a shelf life of around 2 years but it can be greater or lower depending on how you store them. For optimal scent, we recommend using our wax melts within one year of purchase. All of our wax melts have the pour date listed on the label so you can easily see when they were made and to help you keep your home stock rotated. While wax melts don't "go bad", their scent strength may start to weaken. Wax melts remain safe to use and are reusable up until their smell is gone. 

What happens if a person or pet ingests your wax melts?

The primary ingredient in our melts is non-toxic soy wax. Ingestion of 1 of our wax melts will most likely not result in a medical emergency. The person or pet may experience some minor gastrointestinal effects such as nausea. If in any doubt after any amount is consumed or in the unlikely event that several wax melts are ingested, it is recommended that a physician or the Poison Control Center be contacted for treatment advice.  Additionally, keep this product out of the reach of children and pets, as this could be a choking hazard. 

Are your wax melts safe to use around birds?

We do not recommend using any home fragrance products, including our wax melts within the vicinity of birds. Birds are highly sensitive to fragrances and can only tolerate very controlled climates.

Are your wax melts safe to use around infants and children?

When using our products around infants and children, we always recommend adult supervision. That being said, our fragrances are proudly safe to use around infants and children. At Boldtanical, we make all of our wax melts with all-natural organic soy wax and phthalate-free fragrances. 

Are people who are sensitive to fragrances able to use your wax melts?

If you or someone you know is sensitive to fragrances, we always recommend consulting with a doctor first. 

Shipping, Returns and Payment Methods

Will I get my order before Christmas?

'Tis the season to be prepared! As your holiday shopping is underway, rest assured that our team is working around the clock to ensure you receive your purchases as quickly as possible That being said, we believe in transparency with our customers, so please be aware that carriers experience delays during the holiday season. 

Do you offer gift options for orders?

We do not currently offer gift wrapping services at this time.

How quickly will my order be processed?

We ship Monday - Friday from our small business in Hollister, California. Please allow us 1-3 business days to process your order. Free and economy shipping takes 5-7 business days. Expedited shipping takes 2-5 business days. 

How do I track my package?

Tracking numbers will be provided with your shipping notification email once the order is processed. However, please note that the tracking number sometimes do not update right away and tracking to certain countries only update upon arrival within the country. You can track your package through our website. 

Cancellations, returns, exchanges, refunds, damages

 If you are not happy with your purchase or are having an issue with any of our products, please contact us via email at support@boldtanical.com and we will work to make sure you are 100% satisfied. 

Refunds or replacements are offered within the first 30 days of purchase.

Do you have social media?

Do you sell your wax melts in stores?

We currently do not have any store locations at this time.

Can I sell your products in my store?

Yes! However, we do not allow third-party selling on Amazon, eBay or any online channel other than your retail storefront's website. Please email support@boldtanical.com for consideration.

Are you an MLM based company?

No way! We are proudly NOT a multi-level marketing based company. If you are interested in selling our products, we do have a wholesale program available for retailers with physical store locations. Please email support@boldtanical.com for more information and consideration.

Do you offer free samples?

At this time, we are not able to offer free samples. That being said, we do have .4 oz sample sizes available for a very modest price of $0.97. We do run promotions throughout the year that will often include free samples. Be sure to sign up for emails and follow us on Facebook and Instagram to be the first to know!

Can I order a custom mix?

Currently, we do not have the ability to make individual mixes for customers. However, melting different scents together is something we love to do here so give it a try! 

Are you hiring?
